Mix & Match: 4 Looks to Play with this Spring

MAY 15, 2013

There are lots of reasons to be excited about Spring finally arriving in NYC, but for us revamping our wardrobes is at the top of the list!  Our stylist friend, Ellie, took us to Nordstrom Rack and showed us how to work some key trends on a budget. We had a blast letting her dress us up in her favorite Spring looks!

Moody Florals/Neon Accents
Florals took a darker, edgier turn on the Spring 2013 runways. This print is great for those of us who are just dipping our toes into the floral waters, as it is slightly more subtle than the brighter, more “in-your-face” florals we’ve seen in past seasons.

Stripes/Metallic Accent
Stripes are big this spring, but lucky for us (and our wallets!), also timeless! Shelby was looking to include maxis in her spring/summer rotation, so she took the opportunity to incorporate stripes–two birds with one stone! In these looks, we added bright pops of color using accessories and incorporated another one of spring’s big trends: metallics!

Flame!
Out with fall’s Oxblood, in with spring’s Flame! The “it” color this season is a fiery red- orange that will make you feel equally as hot this spring/summer. Here, we paired Emily’s amazing dress with a bright teal pump and a clutch with a subtle tribal accent.

Monotones/Metallic/Creamy Neutrals
There is something about head-to-toe white/cream that puts one in the mood for warm, beautiful weather. If you’re slightly intimidated by the whole monotone trend, this is a great place to start! Start off using pieces in varying shades of the same neutral hue, then throw in a neutral metallic, like the gold bag seen here on Shelby.
