Alicia STEM 2

Alicia Lowery has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.  Alicia recalls a time when she bombed two exams and immediately sought advice from her professor.  The professor told her that maybe she should not pursue an engineering degree because most engineers get an A in their calculus courses and she received a B.  After hearing this, she questioned herself and asked, “Can I really do this?”  Instead of getting depressed, Alicia pushed forward and refused to allow the professor’s perceptions to change what she knew in her heart was her passion!  Alicia knew that she loved “getting her hands dirty” and solving problems.   Alicia advises students, “Never let somebody steal your dreams. Never let somebody tell you, ‘you can’t do it.’  Never give up. Never quit and always Stay With it.”
